Play Boston Blackie on Radio Days
Jack Boyle created Boston Blackie, a jewel thief, in 1914; on radio he was a reformed one, "enemy to those who make him an enemy, friend to those who have no friend." Chester Morris starred in the first series, an NBC summer replacement for Amos 'n' Andy from June 23 to September 15, 1944, with Richard Lane as Inspector Farraday. From April 1945 to October 1950 Richard Kollmar played Blackie in more than 200 half hours that Frederick Ziv syndicated to Mutual and other stations, with Jan Miner as his girlfriend, Mary.
