Play Fibber McGee and Molly on Radio Days
Fibber McGee and Molly starred real-life husband and wife Jim and Marian Jordan and premiered on NBC on April 16, 1935, sponsored for years by Johnson's Wax. Written with partner Don Quinn, it was set at 79 Wistful Vista, home of radio's most famous running gag: the overstuffed hall closet that crashed open on cue. Neighbor Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve, played by Harold Peary, was spun off into The Great Gildersleeve in 1941. The show ran until 1959.
