Play Gunsmoke on Radio Days

Gunsmoke was meant to be a Western for grown-ups. Producer Norman Macdonnell and writer John Meston built it for CBS, where it ran from April 26, 1952, to June 18, 1961. William Conrad played Marshal Matt Dillon in 1870s Dodge City, Kansas, with Parley Baer as Chester, Georgia Ellis as Kitty, and Howard McNear as Doc Adams. John Dunning wrote that radio fans routinely rank it among the best shows of any kind.
