Carlton E. Morse's Jack Packard, Doc Long and Reggie York ran the A-1 Detective Agency: "No job too tough, no adventure too baffling." The serial ran from 1939 to 1944 and again on Mutual from 1949 to 1952, broadcast from New York with Russell Thorson as Jack, Jim Boles as Doc and Tony Randall as Reggie. It mixed mystery, adventure and the supernatural, and opened with Sibelius's "Valse Triste." Few episodes survive in their original form.
