Play Lum and Abner on Radio Days
Chester Lauck and Norris Goff grew up in Waters, Arkansas, and from 1931 to 1954 they ran the Jot 'Em Down Store in the town of Pine Ridge: Lauck as Lum Edwards, Goff as Abner Peabody. They played most of the town too, from Grandpappy Spears and Cedric Weehunt to Squire Skimp and Dick Huddleston. In 1936 Waters changed its name to Pine Ridge after the show. It was mostly a fifteen-minute daily program, heard at different times on NBC, Mutual, CBS and ABC; more than 5,000 episodes aired, and over 1,600 survive.
