Play My Favorite Husband on Radio Days

Lucille Ball and Richard Denning played Liz and George Cooper, "two people who live together and like it," on CBS from July 23, 1948, to March 31, 1951: 124 shows. Gale Gordon and Bea Benaderet were the Atterburys. Jess Oppenheimer produced and wrote it with Madelyn Pugh and Bob Carroll Jr., and Jell-O sponsored it from January 1949. When CBS wanted it for television, Ball insisted on her husband, Desi Arnaz, as her co-star, and the idea became I Love Lucy, with the same writers.
