Play Our Miss Brooks on Radio Days
Eve Arden played Connie Brooks, the wisecracking English teacher at Madison High, on CBS from July 19, 1948, to February 24, 1957, all of it for Colgate-Palmolive. Gale Gordon was the blustery principal, Osgood Conklin; Jeff Chandler was Mr. Boynton, the bashful biology teacher she was always chasing; and Richard Crenna was the student Walter Denton. Al Lewis created it. Real teachers loved it: Arden was made an honorary member of the National Education Association. It moved to television in 1952.
