Play Philco Radio Time on Radio Days
Bing Crosby left NBC's Kraft Music Hall because he wanted to record his shows ahead of time, and Philco let him. Philco Radio Time ran on ABC from October 16, 1946, to June 1, 1949, the first prerecorded program on a major American network. It began on disks, and from the second season on it was recorded on magnetic tape. Ken Carpenter announced, John Scott Trotter led the orchestra, and Peggy Lee was a regular.
