Play The Cinnamon Bear on Radio Days
The Cinnamon Bear was made in 1937 to be played every day from Thanksgiving to Christmas, 26 chapters in all. Judy and Jimmy Barton follow Paddy O'Cinnamon, a little stuffed bear, into Maybeland to get back the Silver Star for the top of their tree, meeting the Crazy Quilt Dragon, the Wintergreen Witch and Santa Claus along the way. Glanville and Elizabeth Heisch wrote the story and songs in six weeks. It first aired November 26 to December 25, 1937, and stations still play it every year. In Portland, Lipman's department store had a costumed Cinnamon Bear every Christmas into the 1990s.
