Play The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show on Radio Days
George Burns and Gracie Allen, married since 1926, were radio stars from 1932, when they joined Guy Lombardo's show on CBS. In 1941 their show became a situation comedy about a married couple, with George as the patient straight man and Gracie's logic all her own. Maxwell House sponsored it on NBC from 1945 to 1949; Bill Goodwin announced and Mel Blanc was a regular. In 1940 Gracie ran for president on the Surprise Party ticket and actually got write-in votes. The radio show ended in May 1950, and they moved to television that October.
