"Ghost stories! Weird stories! And murders, too! The Hermit knows of them all!" The Hermit's Cave began in September 1937 on WJR in Detroit, sponsored by Carter Coal's Olga Coal. The scripts were syndicated, so other stations could stage the show with their own casts; in Los Angeles, KMPC's version was produced by William Conrad. More than 800 episodes were made, and fewer than 40 survive.
