Play The Jack Benny Program on Radio Days

Jack Benny was on the air from May 2, 1932, to May 22, 1955. On the radio he played himself as vain, stingy, forever 39, and sure he could play the violin, and the joke was nearly always on Jack. His radio family delivered it: Mary Livingstone (his wife off the air too), bandleader Phil Harris, announcer Don Wilson, and Eddie Anderson as Rochester. Lucky Strike became the sponsor on October 1, 1944. His mock feud with Fred Allen, which began in 1936, lasted twenty years; off the air the two were close friends.
