Leslie Charteris's gentleman adventurer Simon Templar came to radio in January 1945 and bounced between NBC, CBS and Mutual until October 1951. Edgar Barrier and Brian Aherne played him first; Vincent Price took over in July 1947 and played him in most of the surviving shows, with Tom Conway and Barry Sullivan filling in briefly. Charteris supervised the scripts himself. Sponsors came and went: Bromo-Seltzer, Campbell Soups, Lever Brothers and finally Ford.
