Play Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar on Radio Days
Johnny Dollar was "the man with the action-packed expense account," an insurance investigator who told each case through the items on his expense report. The show ran on CBS from February 18, 1949, to September 30, 1962, and that last broadcast is often called the end of radio's golden age. Six actors played Johnny. Bob Bailey, who took over in October 1955, is the favorite of many fans. Producer Jack Johnstone made it a fifteen-minute serial, five nights a week, with each case told in five parts.
