Henry James (1843-1916) was an American-born writer who became a British citizen late in life and is often ranked among the finest novelists in the English language. His books, including Daisy Miller, The Portrait of a Lady, The Turn of the Screw and The Ambassadors, bridge the worlds of literary realism and modernism. He was also a respected critic and was nominated three times for the Nobel Prize. NBC University Theater dramatized several of his novels for radio, among them The Ambassadors and The Portrait of a Lady.
