John Steinbeck (1902-1968) was an American novelist, short story writer, and war correspondent. Of Mice and Men, The Grapes of Wrath, and East of Eden are his best-known books, and The Grapes of Wrath earned the 1940 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. He received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1962 and also wrote for the movies, including the Alfred Hitchcock film Lifeboat. Radio versions of his work range from The Grapes of Wrath to his 1942 novel The Moon Is Down.
