Emily Brontë (1818-1848) was an English novelist and poet from Yorkshire. Writing under the pen name Ellis Bell, she joined her sisters Charlotte and Anne in publishing a shared book of poems in 1846. Her only novel, Wuthering Heights, came out the following year to a cool reception but is now considered a classic of English literature. That story of passion on the moors proved a favorite of radio drama, and Radio Days holds versions of Wuthering Heights from Lux Radio Theatre, Studio One and other series.
