Stephen Vincent Benét (1898-1943) was an American poet, short story writer and novelist. His book-length Civil War poem John Brown's Body won the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry, and he received a second Pulitzer for Western Star, an unfinished poem about the settling of the country. His 1936 story The Devil and Daniel Webster became a play, an opera libretto and the 1941 film All That Money Can Buy, which he co-wrote. Benét also wrote directly for the air, including the 1942 broadcast A Child Is Born, and Radio Days carries that piece along with Hallmark Playhouse's The Devil and Daniel Webster.
