Betty Grable (1916-1973) was an American actress, singer and dancer who became 20th Century-Fox's top star of the 1940s after Down Argentine Way. Musicals like Coney Island, Mother Wore Tights and How to Marry a Millionaire kept her in the box-office top ten for ten straight years, and in 1943 she ranked number one. Her bathing-suit photo was the most popular pin-up of World War II. Radio audiences heard her on Command Performance, Lux Radio Theatre and Screen Directors Playhouse, along with Bob Hope's show.
