Harlow Wilcox was the announcer on Fibber McGee and Molly, his first network show, after Jim and Marian Jordan asked for him, and he moved with them to Hollywood in 1939. He became known for working the sponsor's pitch right into the story instead of saving it for a break, and Fibber nicknamed him Waxy. He also announced many other programs, including Amos 'n' Andy, Suspense, Truth or Consequences, and Blondie.
