James Cagney (1899-1986) was an American actor and dancer who spent about ten years in vaudeville and on Broadway before making his name in pictures. Tough-guy roles in The Public Enemy, Angels with Dirty Faces, and White Heat made him a star, yet his Academy Award for Best Actor came for playing song-and-dance man George M. Cohan in Yankee Doodle Dandy. The American Film Institute gave him its Life Achievement Award in 1974. You can hear him in Radio Days on The Screen Guild Theater, Family Theater, Lux Radio Theatre, and Suspense.
