Rita Hayworth (1918-1987) was an American actress and dancer whose 1941 Life magazine photo made her one of the favorite pin-ups of World War II. She danced with Fred Astaire in You'll Never Get Rich and You Were Never Lovelier, and Astaire once named her his favorite partner. Top billing in the Technicolor musical Cover Girl with Gene Kelly followed, and in 1946 she played the title role in Gilda, the part she is best remembered for. Radio Days listeners can hear her on shows such as Lux Radio Theatre, Command Performance, Mail Call and Suspense.
