Radio Hall of Fame inductee. (Wikipedia)

Jack Benny was a vaudeville violinist turned comedian whose radio career began in 1932 with a guest spot on Ed Sullivan's program, soon followed by a sponsored show of his own. The Jack Benny Program spent years on NBC before moving to CBS in 1949, with Benny playing a vain miser who played his violin badly and always claimed to be 39. The show also ran on television from 1950 to 1965.
